Achievements
This project gave us all great satisfaction; we aimed at getting the building plans and renovation work completed all within 6 months and under budget. We achieved this by working hard with the client and council towards reaching our goals, working well with the planning officers and building inspectors at the council was key in getting this underway and signed off. This project looked demanding and difficult, by taking it in small chucks we managed to build a beautiful home to the client’s desire and exact outcome.
The Client
A Family of four: Linda, her husband and two teenage daughters who wished to extensively extend their home to create additional space. They also wanted to achieve a modern feel, whilst maintaining the characteristic features of their home. A transformation wish that not only looked gorgeous, but also functioned perfectly.
The Team
The core team consisted of a dedicated Project Manager (PM) and a small onsite team of specialist builders, along with a multitude of highly skilled contract staff.
The Project
The family had an extensive wish list to achieve their vision of a modern family home that worked for all members. This project required a complete renovation of their home and required them to move out for four months. We project managed and delivered this project from start to finish within the agreed timescale and budget. We worked with the family right from the start by ensuring that our PM worked alongside the architect when submitting the drawings for planning. The same PM remained responsible for the renovations, sourcing of materials and interior design / decor.
Requirements
The family had discussed for some time about having building work carried out. The discussion to proceed was driven on after Linda husband had lost his brother to cancer as they discussed with him their plans of how they would enjoy the space and relaxing when he recovered, unfortunately he did not survive. They wanted to create a space which incorporated the kitchen, dining and entertainment space which effortlessly blended in to outdoor garden space. The new space was to allow lots of natural light in as possible. This space would very modern and contemporary in contrast to the exiting Victorian house. So when guests arrived into space they are immediately be taken aback by the new space when walking in.
The client’s main requirement was that the sliding wall doors would not require any additional support when all the doors where parked off to the side, there was clear opening with no obstructions leading into garden.
A new en-suite master bedroom in the loft with an abundance of natural light and open airy feel.
All remaining rooms redecorated and where possible original period features restored in a systematic manner.
Kitchen to be modern, contemporary, large Central Island, plenty of storage incorporated practical but futuristic, all kitchen appliance incorporated to provide slick and sleek appearance.
